Telegram members adding to groups and channels, route by route with its ceiling

By 18 min read

Short answer. Telegram members adding works through two supported routes: an admin adds people directly, or people join through an invite link or a public username. Direct adds stop at each person's privacy setting, and a channel owner can add only the first 200 subscribers. A telegram member adder free tool automates direct adds from a personal account, which Telegram's Spam FAQ treats like unwanted messages.

Searches for telegram members adding come from two readers. One has a new group or channel and wants to know which button brings people in. The other has found a telegram member adder free download that promises thousands of members overnight. This guide answers the first reader step by step and shows the second what the tool does on Telegram's side.

Every figure below is quoted from a Telegram page read on 13 October 2026, with the page named, in line with the sourcing rule every Sendhaus guide follows. Where Telegram publishes no number, the guide says so.

Telegram members adding: the routes Telegram supports

Telegram members adding happens in one of two ways. Either an admin places a person in the chat, or the person joins by choice through a link, a username or search. Telegram's FAQ describes the first way in one sentence, "You can add your contacts, or using search by username", and gives the second its own tool, the invite link.

How to add members in telegram therefore depends on the chat type and on who makes the move. The table lists each route with the ceiling Telegram documents for it.

The split matters because the two ways are judged differently. A person who taps a link chose to join. A person who was added did not, and the Spam FAQ says of unwanted contact that "the same applies to adding people to unwanted groups and channels". Add members to telegram chats directly only when those people expect it.

The two most common forms of the question, how can i add members to my telegram group and how to add members to your telegram group, get the same answer. Add the people who know you, and give everyone else a link.

Basic group 200 Members at most, per Telegram's API documentation. Also the number of subscribers a channel owner can add directly.
Supergroup 200,000 Members a Telegram group can hold, per the FAQ and the API documentation.
Invite link cap 1–99,999 The range of the optional member_limit on one invite link in the Bot API.
Chats per user 500 Channels and supergroups a non-Premium account may join, per the client configuration; 1,000 with Premium.

How to add members in Telegram group: contacts, username, phone number

How to add members in telegram group: open the group's info page, tap Add Member, and pick people from the contact list or search a username. Telegram's FAQ gives the menu path for links as "Group Info > Add Member > Invite to Group via Link". Adding costs nothing, so every native way to add members to telegram group free of charge sits on that one screen.

  1. Add contacts from the list

The contact picker is the answer to how to add members to a telegram group for most small groups, and several contacts can be ticked in one pass. In a basic group the API call behind the button carries a fwd_limit field, described as the "Number of last messages to be forwarded". That field is why the app asks how much history a newcomer should see.

  2. Search a username

How to add members to telegram group with username: type the @username into the same search field and select the account. No saved contact is needed. The add still obeys the other person's privacy setting, which Telegram's API describes in ten words: "Whether people will be able to invite you to chats".

  3. Save a number, then add the contact

To add members to telegram group by phone number, save the number as a contact first; the group screen has no number field. The lookup is limited on Telegram's side. The API method that resolves a number returns user info only "if their privacy settings allow it", asks clients to allow "at most 1 call every 3 seconds", and answers PHONE_NOT_OCCUPIED when no account uses the number.

  4. Send the link to everyone else

An invite link covers the people who are not contacts. "Anyone who has Telegram installed will be able to join your group by following this link", the FAQ says, and a revoked link "will stop working immediately".

Telegram add members to group actions are answered one person at a time. When an add is refused, the API returns the reason as an error or as a list of missing invitees, and the app shows a short notice. Five documented errors cover the common refusals.

Why a telegram group member adder attempt fails: the documented errors
ErrorTelegram's descriptionWhat it means for the admin
USER_PRIVACY_RESTRICTED"The user's privacy settings do not allow you to do this."The person accepts adds from contacts only, or from nobody. Send a link.
USER_NOT_MUTUAL_CONTACT"The provided user is not a mutual contact."The adding account is limited and can add mutual contacts only.
USER_CHANNELS_TOO_MUCH"One of the users you tried to add is already in too many channels/supergroups."The person is at the cap of 500 chats, or 1,000 with Premium.
USER_KICKED"This user was kicked from this supergroup/channel."An admin has to lift the ban before the person can return.
USERS_TOO_MUCH"The maximum number of users has been exceeded (to create a chat, for example)."The chat is full, or the batch is larger than the chat type allows.

For refused adds Telegram's apps fall back to the link. The missingInvitee object exists to tell the app "why a specific user could not be invited", and its two flags mark the cases where a Premium subscription would have allowed the add or the sending of the link by private message. The second error in the table is a state of the adding account, explained in the guide to Telegram's mutual contacts only restriction.

Searches such as telegram group members add and telegram group members add free tend to expect a counter that goes up on command. The documented behaviour is a series of individual yes-or-no answers, one per person.

How to add more than 200 members in Telegram group

How to add more than 200 members in telegram group: the group has to be a supergroup. Telegram's API documentation says basic groups "can only have 200 members at max", while supergroups "can support up to 200,000 members each". The apps convert a basic group when an admin uses a feature that only supergroups have, so most admins never see the switch.

The conversion is documented as a migration. "To upgrade a basic group to a supergroup, messages.migrateChat can be used", the API page says, and "Clients should automatically migrate basic groups to supergroups if an admin tries to execute an action that is only supported by supergroups." After the migration all new messages go to the supergroup, and the app merges the old chat's history into view.

Past 200 the method does not change, only the room. Telegram bulk add to group requests still go through the contact picker or a link, one consenting person at a time.

The far end of the scale has its own rule. A group "close to the limit" of 200,000 can convert into a Broadcast Group that allows "unlimited members", per Telegram's 2021 blog post on invite links. The trade is written in the same post: "only admins can send messages". The API documentation adds that "one can't invite people into gigagroups", so growth there runs through links alone.

The 200 figure appears in two unrelated rules. A basic group holds 200 members at most, and a channel owner can directly add the first 200 subscribers. Neither rule is a daily allowance. Telegram publishes no daily allowance for adds at all.

How to add members in Telegram channel: the first 200, then links

How to add members in telegram channel: the owner adds contacts until the channel has 200 subscribers, and after that every subscriber has to join by choice. Telegram's Channels FAQ is direct about the cut-off: "As the channel's owner, you may invite the first 200 subscribers to your channel. Once the subscriber count reaches 200, the channel is on its own."

"Please do not send channel links (or other unsolicited messages) to strangers. If they report spam from your account, you may be banned from contacting other people, however good your intentions."Telegram Channels FAQ, telegram.org/faq_channels

The same FAQ lists what an owner can do and puts the cap in brackets: "add subscribers (the first 200 only)". Telegram channel add members options after that point are a public username that shows in search, or an invite link for a private channel. No ceiling applies to the audience itself, since "channels can have an unlimited number of subscribers".

How to add members to telegram channel number 201 and beyond is therefore a marketing question. How to add 1000 members in telegram channel has no button behind it. How to add bulk members in telegram channel has no supported form at all, because the direct-add route closed at 200. What remains is reach: a link placed where interested people already are.

Telegram's own paid route is sponsored messages shown in other channels. The published prices are collected in the guide to what Telegram Ads cost on the record, and buying that reach through an intermediary is covered in what a Telegram ads agency actually sells. Neither adds a subscriber. Both put the link in front of people who may tap it.

Offers to auto add members to telegram channel for free describe one of two things. Either a tool adds accounts with the owner's own login until the 200 cap, or a seller raises the counter with accounts that never read a post. Telegram's API ID page names the second practice in its ban sentence: "faking subscriber and view counters of channels".

How to add members from one Telegram group to another

How to add members from one telegram group to another: when both groups are yours, post the new group's invite link in the old one and pin it. Members who want the new group join it. Telegram offers no transfer or copy function for members, and nothing in its documentation moves a person between chats without that person's action or an admin's individual add.

The other reading of the question is how to add members in telegram group from other group that belongs to someone else. Member adder tools are built for that job, and the job has two halves. A list of the other group's members is collected, and then each account on the list is sent through the direct-add call. The first half is described in the guide to what a Telegram scraper can and cannot collect.

Three documented obstacles stand between a copied list and a filled group.

  • The member list may not be readable. Admins of a supergroup can hide the participant list once the group has 100 members, the value Telegram's client configuration gives for hidden_members_group_size_min. A channel's subscriber list needs admin rights: CHAT_ADMIN_REQUIRED is among the errors of the participants method.
  • Each person's privacy setting still applies. A list of 5,000 usernames produces 5,000 separate checks, and USER_PRIVACY_RESTRICTED is returned per user.
  • The people added can report it. The Spam FAQ's rule for unwanted messages covers "adding people to unwanted groups and channels" in the next sentence.

A telegram bot to add members from other group does not exist in the form the phrase suggests, for a reason covered in the bot section below. What the account running an adder tends to meet first is the limited state, in which the Android app's own string reads "Sorry, you can only add mutual contacts to groups at the moment."

Telegram member adder free tools: software, script, app, panel

A telegram member adder free download is software that logs in as a personal Telegram account and repeats the direct-add call for every username on a list. The price is zero because the cost sits elsewhere, with the account that runs it. Telegram's API ID page says accounts using unofficial clients are "automatically put under observation", and that API spam ends in a permanent ban.

"If you use the Telegram API for flooding, spamming, faking subscriber and view counters of channels, you will be banned forever."Telegram API, obtaining an API ID

The products differ in packaging more than in function. A telegram member adder sold as desktop software, a telegram member adder script on a code-hosting site and a telegram member adder app in a browser store all call the same method, channels.inviteToChannel, which Telegram's reference marks "Only users can use this method". The table sorts the five forms by what the buyer hands over.

The listings are candid in places. One Chrome Web Store extension read on 12 October 2026 advertises scraping, bulk sending and adding members in a single tool, and states that it has "no relationship to Telegram Inc." An Apify Store listing titled Telegram Channel Member Adder showed a one-day trial followed by $20.00 a month in search results on 13 October 2026, and its developer answered a user's complaint by pointing to members' privacy settings. Both are vendor statements, quoted as such.

The search terms multiply faster than the products. Free telegram member adder, free telegram member adder software, telegram member adding software and telegram auto add member software lead to the same handful of programs. Telegram members add app, telegram free members add app and app to add members to telegram group lead to browser extensions. A telegram members adding tool, a telegram bulk-member adder and a telegram bulk adder are names for the list-driven mode of all of them.

Automation claims follow the same pattern. Telegram auto member adder, auto add telegram members and auto add members to telegram group describe a loop with a pause between adds. A longer pause produces fewer rate errors. The pause changes nothing about whether the person added wanted the group.

A telegram members adding trick, in forum posts and video titles, is usually a claim about pacing, account age or which users to pick. None of those is a loophole in a written rule, because the written rule has no number in it. The Spam FAQ's test is whether the people on the receiving end find the contact unwelcome.

Groups filled this way share a look: a large count, few readers, and promotional accounts posting to each other. The posting half is covered in the guide to what a Telegram shill bot does inside a group. People who were added without asking leave, mute or report. A report about an unwanted add reaches the same moderators as a report about a message, and one accurate report is the documented input, as the guide to mass report bots and why volume is not the lever sets out.

Sendhaus does not run member adders, scraped lists or counted-member panels. The reasons are on the page about how Sendhaus works and the work it declines. Consent law also sits above the platform's rules: in the EU, Article 13 of Directive 2002/58/EC requires prior consent for unsolicited direct-marketing messages. This guide is not legal advice.

Telegram member adder bot: what a bot can add

A telegram member adder bot cannot add anyone. The Bot API reference, read in full on 13 October 2026, contains no method that places a user in a group or channel, and the user-API call that does is marked "Only users can use this method". What a bot can do is create invite links, approve join requests and greet the people who arrive.

That gap is why a telegram bot for adding members or a telegram add members bot turns out to be something else on inspection: a personal account behind a bot-style menu, or a real bot that hands out links. A telegram group member adder bot of the second kind is legitimate and useful. The first kind is the software from the previous section with a chat interface.

A telegram auto add member bot faces a second documented wall. Telegram's bot introduction says "Bots can't start conversations with users. A user must either add them to a group or send them a message first." A bot has no way to reach a stranger, let alone seat one in a chat, so requests for a telegram bot add members to group feature or a telegram bot auto add user to group feature end at the same place.

What a real bot can do for telegram members adding, per the Bot API
Bot API itemWhat the reference says
createChatInviteLinkCreates "an additional invite link for a chat"; the bot must be an administrator with the right to invite users
member_limit"The maximum number of users that can be members of the chat simultaneously after joining the chat via this invite link; 1-99999"
creates_join_request"True, if users joining the chat via the link need to be approved by chat administrators. If True, member_limit can't be specified."
approveChatJoinRequestApproves a join request; the bot needs the can_invite_users administrator right
new_chat_membersTells the bot which "New members that were added to the group or supergroup" have arrived

In channels the picture is narrower still: the invite method's error list includes USER_BOT, "Bots can only be admins in channels." The call-by-call detail lives in two neighbouring guides, what a Telegram member add bot's code can call and what an invite member bot can bring into a group or channel.

What Telegram does not publish about adding members

Telegram publishes the capacities and withholds the rates. The group size, the channel owner's 200 direct adds and the invite-link fields are all documented. No Telegram page read for this guide gives a number of adds per day, per hour or per account, and none says how many reports about unwanted adds lead to a limit.

  • Adds per account per day. Third-party guides returned for these searches on 13 October 2026 quote 200 invites a day in one case and 20 to 50 adds per account in another. Neither figure appears in Telegram's FAQ, API reference or terms.
  • The trigger for the mutual-contacts state. The Spam FAQ describes moderators reviewing reports. It gives no count.
  • The length of a limit. A first limit "most likely" lasts "a few days or so", and repeat limits bring "longer periods". No schedule is published.
  • PEER_FLOOD. An error that adder tools commonly report is absent from the documented error list of the invite method.
  • Skipped adds. Missing invitees are returned call by call. Telegram publishes no aggregate share of adds that privacy settings refuse.

Rate errors do exist and are documented separately. A 420 FLOOD_WAIT tells a client how many seconds to pause, and that family of errors is the subject of the guide to Telegram flood wait and sending limits. A flood wait concerns request speed. A spam limit concerns recipients, and waiting between adds does not address it.

What brings members in without a member adder

A group or channel grows when the link reaches people who want what is inside. Telegram's blog calls invite links "a quick and easy way to bring 1 or 1 million people to your groups and channels", and the tools around the link cost nothing: a separate link per source, a usage cap, an expiry date, admin approval and a QR code.

  • One link per source. The same blog post says admins "can also see which users joined using each invite link", so a newsletter, a website footer and a printed QR code can each carry their own link and be compared.
  • Approval where quality matters. Additional links have a Request Admin Approval setting. A person or a bot reviews each request before the newcomer can post.
  • Reminders in chats you already run. A pinned link in an existing group reaches people who already chose you, and a recurring reminder can be set natively, as the guide to scheduling messages on Telegram shows.
  • An existing customer list. An email or a receipt page carrying the link asks people who already have a relationship with the sender.

Links have limits too. A link sent to strangers in private messages is exactly what the Channels FAQ warns against, and a link dropped in a room full of other promoters reaches nobody. An audience that is not on Telegram will not install an app for one group.

For a business the durable asset is an audience that chose to be there: channel subscribers, group members and bot users who pressed start. Reaching those people at volume is the work behind Telegram broadcast and bulk messaging for opted-in audiences, and building the audience falls under Telegram growth and marketing. The full list of Sendhaus Telegram services shows where each piece sits. Sendhaus is an independent Telegram messaging and automation provider, not affiliated with Telegram, and takes on telegram members adding work only in the link-and-consent form described here.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a free Telegram member adder that is safe to use?

No tool that adds people from a list is safe for the account that runs it. A telegram member adder free of charge still logs in as a personal account through the user API, and Telegram says accounts using unofficial clients are put under observation. The free, supported routes are native: the contact picker, username search and invite links.

How many members can I add to a Telegram group per day?

Telegram publishes no daily figure. The documented numbers are capacities: 200 members in a basic group, 200,000 in a supergroup, and the first 200 subscribers a channel owner can add directly. Daily allowances quoted online come from third-party guides and tool vendors, and none of them appears in Telegram's documentation.

Can I add someone to a Telegram group without their permission?

Only if their privacy setting allows it. Telegram's setting controls whether people can invite an account to chats, and a refused add returns the error USER_PRIVACY_RESTRICTED. Telegram's Spam FAQ also treats adding people to unwanted groups and channels the same way as unwanted messages, so the people added can report it.

Why can't I add members to my Telegram channel anymore?

The channel has most likely passed 200 subscribers. Telegram's Channels FAQ says the owner may invite the first 200 subscribers and that the channel is then on its own. After that point people join through the channel's public username or an invite link.

Can a bot add members to a Telegram group?

No. The Bot API has no method for adding a user to a chat, and the user-API invite method is marked for users only. A bot that is an administrator can create invite links, set a member limit of 1 to 99,999 on a link, and approve or decline join requests.

What does "you can only add mutual contacts to groups" mean?

The notice is the app's wording for a limited account: after reports reviewed by moderators, the account can add only mutual contacts to groups. Telegram's Spam FAQ says a first limit most likely lasts a few days or so, that repeat limits run longer, and that early release is impossible.
