Telegram ads examples and sizes: what the unit can carry

By 14 min read

Short answer. Telegram ads examples all share one shape: a title, up to 160 characters of text, one button, the advertiser's profile photo and, since September 2024, an optional image or video. Telegram's public pages publish the text limit but no image size. Resellers report JPEG or PNG at 16:9, at least 640 px wide and up to 5 MB. Telegram runs no public ad library.

Telegram ads examples are hard to find because the ads disappear. A sponsored message sits under the last post of a public channel, shows to the people who scroll there, and leaves no archive behind. Google and Meta publish ad libraries. Telegram does not. Most pages ranking for these searches are spec sheets from resellers and ad networks, or landing pages for spy tools that record ads as they appear, and their numbers do not always agree.

This guide reads the unit from Telegram's own documents: the Ad Policies and Guidelines, the Ad Platform getting-started page, the developer reference for sponsored messages and the sponsoredMessage constructor, all checked on 18 October 2026. Where a figure comes from a reseller or vendor, it is labelled as theirs. The mechanics of the cabinet itself are covered in how Telegram's ad platform works. This page stays on what an ad looks like, what it can carry, and where to see one.

What does a Telegram ads example look like?

A Telegram ads example is a short card labelled "Sponsored" that shows below the last post in a public channel. Section 1 of Telegram's Ad Policies and Guidelines defines the format: "Each ad consists of an ad text and a button that opens a link to the advertised product", with the text capped at 160 characters including spaces. Everything else on the card comes from the promoted channel or bot.

The developer reference for sponsored messages lists what a Telegram app actually draws. A channel ad has a title, a text with styling entities, an optional media attachment, and a button at the bottom whose label arrives in the button_text field. If the photo field is set, the app shows "a profile photo bubble for the sponsored message, like for messages sent in groups". If sponsor_info or additional_info is set, a "Sponsor info" menu item appears, and the recommended flag swaps the "Sponsored" label for "Recommended".

Media"If set, contains some media"; no size or format publishedsponsoredMessage constructor

The table carries the main point about every telegram ads example you will find online: the text rules are Telegram's, while the media rules are not on any public Telegram page. Each sponsored message is built from a few fixed parts, so two ads in the same niche often look nearly identical and differ only in 160 characters of copy.

Does Telegram have ads, and where do they appear?

Yes, Telegram has ads, and they run on Telegram's own Ad Platform at ads.telegram.org. The getting-started page describes it as "a tool to create sponsored messages in public one-to-many channels with 1000+ subscribers". The developer reference adds three more surfaces: an action bar above the chat in bots, text-only boxes on channel videos, and sponsored peers above global search results.

So the answer to "does telegram have ads" depends on where you look. Private chats and groups carry no Telegram ads. The developer reference sets out where each format sits. Channel ads "must be displayed below all other posts in the channel, after the user scrolls further down, past the last message". Bot ads "must be displayed above the chat, akin to an action bar", with a blue "Ad" prefix. Ads on channel videos "will always be text-only ads" shown "in a small box on the video player", hidden automatically after max_display_duration seconds.

Telegram Premium subscribers are the other exception. The June 2022 Premium announcement on Telegram's blog says sponsored messages "will no longer appear for subscribers of Telegram Premium". The API backs this: hiding sponsored messages can return a PREMIUM_ACCOUNT_REQUIRED error. An advertiser therefore never reaches Premium users through this unit. That is one reason view counts on a sponsored message stay below a channel's subscriber count.

Telegram ads examples by placement

The four telegram ads examples below are written by Sendhaus to fit Telegram's published rules. They are illustrations, not ads that ran. Each stays under 160 characters, uses no line breaks or lists, carries at most one link, and points to a Telegram channel or bot, as the getting-started page requires: "Links to external sites are not allowed".

Illustrative Telegram ads examples, one per placement, with character counts
PlacementExample ad textCharactersButton and destination

Channel video playerShort cooking lessons in under five minutes. New recipe every Tuesday.70Text-only box; no media allowed in this slot

Each telegram ads example above avoids the patterns section 5.4 of the guidelines names: "you-just-won-X claims", superlatives such as "best company", personal questions like "Looking to pay off high debt?", and lines that imply harm to the reader. A trading channel ad that promises returns would also fail section 5.7, which bars "offers of investment with guaranteed return". Our channel growth and ad copy service drafts against these clauses before an ad reaches review.

The bot row matters for measurement. Section 3 of the guidelines says that when the destination is a bot, "links may include start parameters". A start parameter is the only documented way to tell which ad brought a user into a bot, a point the pixel section below returns to. If the ad is meant to fill a channel that later sends updates to its subscribers, the four routes for broadcasting on Telegram cover what happens after the join.

Telegram ads size: text, image and video specs

The documented telegram ads size is the text: 160 characters including spaces, from section 1 of the Ad Policies and Guidelines. Telegram's public pages give no image or video size. The media specs that circulate came from resellers when image and video ads opened on 2 September 2024: JPEG or PNG up to 5 MB, 16:9, at least 640 px wide; MP4 up to 20 MB, 3 to 60 seconds.

Ppc.world reported the rollout on 2 September 2024, citing the reseller eLama's blog, and listed the image and video requirements in the same terms. Sostav.ru carried the same figures that day. Ppc.world described the formats as available with restrictions, switched on per advertiser. In October 2026 the ad network tgads.net quoted the same numbers and attributed them to "Telegram Ads API documentation", a document that is not public: ads.telegram.org/api returns no readable page.

VideoMP4, 16:9, at least 640 px wide, up to 20 MB, 3 to 60 secondsSame
Video-player adsText only, no mediaTelegram, core.telegram.org/api/sponsored-messages

Searches for a telegram ads banner size, a telegram ads photo size or a telegram ads image size all point at the same 16:9 attachment, because the sponsored message has only one media slot. A practical working size is 1280 × 720 or 1920 × 1080, both 16:9 and well above the 640 px floor. Those are Sendhaus recommendations, not a Telegram rule. Keep text inside the image readable at phone width, since the card renders at the width of the chat column.

Media also changes how the ad behaves. The developer reference says a click on a photo or a silent video invokes messages.clickSponsoredMessage and opens the link. A click on a video with sound opens the video fullscreen first and opens the link only on a second click. An advertiser using video should expect fewer first-click visits than the view count suggests.

No telegram ads example has a separate logo upload. The round image beside the ad is the profile photo of the promoted channel or bot, passed through the photo field of the sponsoredMessage constructor, which the developer reference describes as "a custom profile photo bubble". In bots, a thumbnail-sized version sits in the right of the action bar. Changing the telegram ads logo means changing the destination's avatar.

Section 4.1 of the guidelines makes that avatar mandatory: "Promoted channels, bots, and accounts must have both a profile image and a complete text in their 'about' or 'description' section". A channel without an avatar is declined before the copy is read. Section 5.3 adds a limit on what the image may show. It names "misusing brand logos or assets, e.g., the Telegram logo" as plagiarism, so a paper-plane mark on the avatar or in an attached image is a decline risk.

For the avatar itself, the circle crops the corners of a square upload, so the mark has to sit inside the centre. Telegram publishes no pixel size for profile photos used in ads. Sendhaus works from a 640 × 640 square master and checks it at 40 px, the size at which most readers see it in a channel feed.

Telegram promotion images outside the ad platform

A Telegram promotion image usually means one of two things outside Telegram Ads: a post an advertiser buys directly from a channel owner, or a post in the advertiser's own channel or bot. Both are ordinary Telegram messages, so ordinary message limits apply. The Bot API sendPhoto method allows photos "at most 10 MB in size", with width and height "not exceed 10000 in total" and a ratio of at most 20.

Captions on those posts run to 1,024 characters, the Bot API limit for media captions, about six times the room a sponsored message gets. That difference explains why many Telegram promotion images found on agency sites look like posters full of text: they were made for paid posts, not for the Ad Platform. A poster cut for a direct post will not fit the 16:9 slot of a sponsored message without cropping.

Direct paid posts sit outside the Ad Platform's review, and the advertiser deals with the channel owner instead of Telegram. The guidelines still describe the floor for honest copy, and section 5.11 is worth reading before buying any post that promises growth. It bars "services for inflating metrics/followers". The same reasoning is why bought Telegram subscribers cost more than they return.

Where to see a real telegram ads sample

Telegram publishes its own test placement. The developer reference states: "For the channel https://t.me/SecretAdTestChannel the system will always return a sponsored message", promoting a channel, a message in a channel, or a bot with a start parameter. Opening that channel on a non-Premium account and scrolling past the last post shows a live telegram ads sample in the real layout. Because Telegram renders it, that test channel is the most reliable telegram ads example available.

The second documented sample is your own ad. The getting-started page says that after creating an ad you can click "Preview Ad" "to see a preview of how the sponsored message looks inside a channel". Ads can also be saved without a budget: the same page says you "can also publish ads without a budget to get a feel for the platform". That lets an advertiser check copy length and image crop before funding anything.

Neither sample shows performance. A preview has no views, and the test channel's ads are system examples. For figures, the only first-party source is the Statistics tab of a funded ad. Screenshots on vendor sites showing click-through rates are the vendor's data and cannot be checked against anything Telegram publishes.

Is there a Telegram ad library or spy tool?

Telegram runs no public ad library. No page on ads.telegram.org or telegram.org offers a searchable archive of sponsored messages, the way Meta's Ad Library does for Facebook and Instagram. What is sold as a telegram ad library is built by third parties who record ads as they appear in channels, then index them by advertiser, niche and date.

The method rests on two documented facts. Ads are tied to channels, not people: Telegram's March 2024 monetization post says the ads are "not based on user data", so any account opening a channel is offered the same sponsored message. And the developer reference tells apps to call messages.getSponsoredMessages when a channel opens and to cache the result for five minutes. Spy-tool vendors describe opening a pool of monitored channels on a schedule and logging what each returns. One of them, tgadsspy, states plainly in its own guide that Telegram has "no public ad library".

Treat any telegram ads library or telegram ads spy service as a sample, not a census. Coverage depends on which channels the tool watches, and the counts, niche labels and spend estimates on those sites are the vendor's own and cannot be verified. A tg ads spy subscription is useful for reading telegram ads examples from competitors, with their dates. It does not show budgets, CPM bids, or whether an ad paid off. Some sellers also bundle "ad spying" with shill accounts that comment under rival posts, the pattern taken apart in what a Telegram shill bot runs on.

A spy tool also cannot remove a competitor's ad. Each sponsored message carries a report option when can_report is set, and Telegram reviews reports against its guidelines. Report volume is not the deciding factor, as explained in why mass report bots fail.

Telegram ads pixel: what tracking exists

There is no telegram ads pixel. Telegram documents no conversion tag, tracking script or audience-matching code for its Ad Platform, and the getting-started page requires every ad link to point to "a channel or bot on Telegram". The Statistics tab reports views and "the number of times a user joined your channel or started the bot after viewing the sponsored message", by minute or day.

Attribution beyond that runs through the destination. A bot can read the start parameter in each ad's link, so separate ads can carry separate parameters and the bot can log which one each user arrived from. That logging is the advertiser's own code, and our bot development and automation work builds it as a short handler that writes the parameter, the date and the first action taken. Channel growth from ads shows up in Telegram's channel statistics, read the way Telegram channel analytics describes.

One gap is worth knowing. The guidelines mention websites in their destination rules, and the developer reference refers to "a sponsored website", yet the public getting-started page says external links are not allowed. Reseller and network pages report website destinations for some accounts. Even then, Telegram publishes no pixel. Any tracking on the landing page is the advertiser's own analytics, not a Telegram integration.

Telegram CPM for text, image and video ads

Telegram CPM is the bid an advertiser sets per thousand views of a sponsored message. Telegram's getting-started page states "The minimum CPM for a sponsored message is 0.1 Toncoin", and its front page now says ads are paid with Gram. Media ads need a higher bid. Sostav.ru reported a markup of +50% for images and +70% for video, rising to +80% and +100% when the ad targets specific channels.

The markup figures are reseller-reported and date from September 2024. Telegram has not published them, and clause 3.2(f) of the Ad Platform Terms of Service lets Telegram change minimum CPMs. Telegram publishes no average CPM, no CPM by country and no click price. A worked budget belongs on its own page: what Telegram ads cost sets out the published floor, the auction, and what resellers add on top.

For creative testing, the CPM markup changes the arithmetic. If an image ad needs half again the bid of a text ad, it has to win half again as many joins per thousand views to break even. Running one telegram ads example as text-only and again with an image, in the same channels, is the cleanest comparison the platform allows. Use "Create similar ad" on the getting-started page to clone it.

Why an ad copied from examples gets declined

Most ads copied from telegram ads examples fail on formatting before content. Section 2 of the guidelines bars "Line breaks, bullet points, numbering lists", "excessive or gimmicky use of CaPiTaLiZaTiOn" and "intrusive, excessive or gimmicky use of emoji". Ads collected from other platforms nearly always use line breaks, so they fail as pasted.

The destination is the second filter. Section 4.5 says "Telegram channels must have at least one post published within the two weeks prior to review", and section 4.7 asks that the language of the targeted channel match the ad and the destination. Section 3 rejects URL shorteners. An ad that copies a competitor's text but points at a quiet channel, in a different language from the channels it targets, fails three clauses at once.

When an ad is declined, the getting-started page says to "Open the ad to see a more detailed explanation and a link to the relevant guidelines". Telegram sets no review deadline; clause 3.2(a) of the terms says it "shall not be bound by any time frames in conducting a review".

What Telegram does not publish

Telegram's public pages leave most creative specs unstated. As of 18 October 2026 there is no published image size, video length, file limit or title length for sponsored messages, no ad library, no pixel, no average CPM and no click-through benchmark. The media specs in circulation come from resellers. Any page that presents them as Telegram's own rule is quoting a secondary source.

That gap shapes how this page should be read. The 160-character limit, the placements, the profile-photo rule, the test channel and the minimum CPM are Telegram's words. The 16:9, 640 px, 5 MB and 20 MB figures are consistent across resellers and networks, but Telegram can change them without notice, and an advertiser should confirm them in the ad form before cutting creative for any telegram ads example with an attachment. Our editorial standard for Telegram guides explains how Sendhaus labels the two kinds of figure.

When copying ad examples is the wrong move

Telegram ads examples help when you already have a channel or bot worth promoting, and a telegram ads example is only as good as its destination. They do not help when the channel is empty, the offer falls under a banned category in section 5, or the audience you want is not on Telegram. Gambling, political campaigns, dating services and growth services are refused whatever the copy says.

Ads are also the wrong tool for reaching specific people. A sponsored message targets channels, not users, and the platform offers no way to message a list. Teams that turn to cold DMs and DM automation instead run into Telegram's spam rules. The compliant path after an ad is a channel or bot that people joined on purpose, then messages to those subscribers through our broadcast messaging service.

Sendhaus is an independent provider with no affiliation to Telegram Messenger Inc., as set out on how Sendhaus works and what it declines. The full list of what we build sits on the Telegram services overview, and the Sendhaus home page summarises the approach: messaging only to people who asked for it.

Frequently asked questions

What is a Telegram ads example made of?

A Telegram sponsored message has a title, up to 160 characters of text including spaces, and one button that opens a Telegram channel or bot. The promoted chat's profile photo shows as a bubble beside it, and since September 2024 an image or video can be attached. Section 1 of Telegram's Ad Policies and Guidelines defines the text and button; the rest comes from the developer reference.

Does Telegram have ads?

Yes. Telegram sells sponsored messages through its Ad Platform at ads.telegram.org. They appear below the last post in public channels with 1,000 or more subscribers, above the chat in bots, as text boxes on channel videos and above global search results. Private chats and groups carry none, and Telegram's June 2022 Premium announcement says sponsored messages no longer appear for Premium subscribers.

What is the Telegram ads image size?

Telegram's public pages publish no image size. Resellers reported the spec when media ads opened on 2 September 2024: JPEG or PNG, 16:9, at least 640 px wide and up to 5 MB. Video is MP4, 16:9, at least 640 px wide, up to 20 MB and 3 to 60 seconds. A working size of 1280 by 720 or 1920 by 1080 meets those figures.

What is the Telegram ads text limit?

The ad text can be at most 160 characters including spaces, according to section 1 of Telegram's Ad Policies and Guidelines. Section 2 also bans line breaks, bullet points, numbered lists, gimmicky capitalisation and excessive emoji, and section 3 allows one link in the text, which must go to the same destination as the button.

How do I change the logo on my Telegram ad?

Change the profile photo of the channel or bot the ad promotes. A sponsored message has no separate logo field: the developer reference describes the photo field as a custom profile photo bubble taken from the promoted chat. Section 4.1 of the guidelines requires that profile image, and section 5.3 bars misuse of brand logos, naming the Telegram logo as an example.

Is there a Telegram ad library?

No. Telegram publishes no searchable archive of sponsored messages, unlike Meta's Ad Library. Third-party spy tools such as tgadsspy record ads by opening monitored channels and logging the sponsored message each one returns, which works because Telegram's ads are tied to channels rather than user data. Their coverage, niche labels and spend estimates are the vendors' own.

Where can I see a real Telegram ad?

Telegram's developer reference names a test channel, t.me/SecretAdTestChannel, for which the system always returns a sponsored message. Open it on an account without Premium and scroll past the last post. For your own ad, the Preview Ad button in the Ad Platform shows how the message looks inside a channel, and ads can be saved without a budget.

Does Telegram Ads have a pixel?

No. Telegram documents no conversion pixel, tag or audience-matching code. The Statistics tab of an ad shows views and the number of channel joins or bot starts after viewing. To tell ads apart inside a bot, give each ad link its own start parameter, which section 3 of the guidelines allows, and log it in the bot's code.

What is the minimum Telegram CPM?

Telegram's getting-started page states that the minimum CPM for a sponsored message is 0.1 Toncoin, the price of one thousand views, and the Ad Platform front page now says ads are paid with Gram. Reseller reports from September 2024 add a markup of 50% for images and 70% for video, or 80% and 100% when the ad targets specific channels.
