Short answer. Telegram for business works on three layers. The free app gives every account channels, groups of up to 200,000 members, usernames and bots. Telegram Business adds opening hours, location, greeting and away messages, quick replies, chat links and a connected chatbot, and Telegram says those features are free to Premium subscribers. Bots with the Payments API handle selling, and Telegram takes no commission on card payments.
Most guides to telegram for business are written by companies selling an inbox, a chatbot builder or a bulk sender, and each one describes Telegram as a funnel into its own product. This guide does the opposite. It sets each business use of Telegram beside the Telegram page that documents it, quotes the wording where the wording matters, and says plainly where Telegram has published nothing.
Every Telegram rule below was read on Telegram's own pages on 15 October 2026, and the pages are listed under Sources. Figures from outside Telegram carry their source and date. Where Telegram is silent, the guide says so; that is the editorial standard behind every guide in this library, and how Sendhaus works and what it declines is set out separately.
What is Telegram for business?
Telegram for business is the use of an ordinary Telegram account, plus channels, groups and bots, to talk to customers, publish to an audience and take payments. Telegram has no separate company product with its own sign-up. The pieces are the free app, the Telegram Business feature set inside Premium, and the Bot Platform, which includes the Payments API.
Telegram itself frames the app as suitable for business. The main FAQ says Telegram "can take care of all your personal or business messaging needs", and in a later answer adds that "business users and small teams may like the large groups, usernames, desktop apps and powerful file sharing options". Files of up to 2 GB each can be sent on a free account, or 4 GB with Premium, according to the same FAQ.
The phrase telegram business usually means one of two things in search. Sometimes it is the March 2024 feature set, announced on Telegram's blog as "Introducing Telegram Business". Sometimes it is the broader question of running a company on Telegram, which covers telegram for business use through channels and bots that predate that announcement by years. Both meanings are covered here, in that order.
| Layer | What it gives a business | Cost on Telegram's side | Where it is written |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free app | Username links, channels, groups of up to 200,000, files up to 2 GB | Free | Telegram FAQ |
| Telegram Business | Hours, location, greeting and away messages, quick replies, start page, chat links, chat tags | Included with Premium | Telegram blog, 31 March 2024; API, Telegram Business |
| Connected business bot | A bot that reads and answers private chats for the account | Free, no Premium needed | API, Telegram Business; API, connected business bots |
| Bots and Payments API | Support bots, broadcasts to opted-in users, invoices, Stars for digital goods | No commission on card payments | Bot Payments API pages |
Is Telegram good for business?
Telegram is good for business when the customers are already on Telegram and expect to be reached there. Telegram's privacy policy describes a service with "more than 1 billion users", channels have no subscriber cap, and a business can be found by username without sharing a phone number. Telegram is a poor fit where the audience is elsewhere or the business needs to start conversations with strangers.
Do businesses use telegram in practice? Telegram publishes no count of business accounts, so any figure for that is a vendor estimate. What Telegram has published is adoption of the paid tier: Pavel Durov's channel post of September 2024 said 10 million people were then paying for Premium, the subscription that carries the business features. Is telegram used for business across every market? No published breakdown exists by country or industry.
Can telegram be used for business by a company that sells to the public? Yes, with one boundary that shapes everything else. Telegram's developer introduction says "Bots can't start conversations with users. A user must either add them to a group or send them a message first." A business on Telegram therefore works with people who come to it, through a channel, a username link, a QR code or an advert, and Telegram's Spam FAQ treats unrequested private messages as spam whatever their content.
Why use telegram for business, then, rather than email alone? Three reasons recur in Telegram's own documentation: unlimited channel audiences, large files, and bots that can be built on a free API. Telegram in business communication also tends to mean one inbox for sales and support on several devices, since the FAQ describes cloud chats available on phone, desktop and web at once. The rules for promoting channels, groups and bots decide how that audience is reached in the first place.
How to use telegram for business well, and how can I use Telegram for business without an account limit, turn out to be the same question. The sections below answer it feature by feature, starting with what Telegram ships and ending with what it does not publish.
Telegram Business features, one by one
Telegram Business features are eight tools added to a personal account: opening hours, location, a custom start page, quick replies, greeting messages, away messages, links to chat and a connected chatbot, plus colored tags for chats. Telegram's announcement of 31 March 2024 says any user can turn on business features "without any coding skills", from Settings, Telegram Business.
The table lists each one with Telegram's own description. The API page for Telegram Business adds detail an operator needs: opening hours accept up to 28 weekly intervals, and a business can create chat links only up to a server-set limit, after which the API returns CHATLINKS_TOO_MUCH and asks the user to delete older links.
| Feature | What Telegram says it does | Published limit or condition |
|---|---|---|
| Hours and location | "display their hours of operation and show their location on a map" | Up to 28 weekly intervals for hours |
| Start page | Text and sticker people see "before they start a conversation" | Empty chats only |
| Quick replies | Preset messages that "may contain several messages", with media and files | "only works in private chats, not groups" |
| Greeting message | "sent to users who contact you for the first time" | Re-sent after a period you choose |
| Away message | Sent "when your business is closed or while you're on vacation" | Can exclude chats or chat categories |
| Links to chat | Open a chat with a pre-filled message, "like a button to reserve a table" | Each link shows a tap count |
| Tags for chats | "colored labels to chats" based on chat folders | Telegram Business or Premium |
| Chatbot | Bots that "process and answer messages on their behalf" | One bot per account; free without Premium |
Telegram business hours do more than inform. The away message can run on the same schedule, so a customer who writes at night gets the closing time automatically. The telegram business chat itself is a normal private chat: the customer sees a profile with hours, a map pin and a start page, and nothing marks the conversation as automated unless the business says so. Greeting and away messages are covered in detail in the guide to every Telegram auto reply option and its limit.
A telegram business card, in the printed sense, predates all of this. Telegram's FAQ suggests putting username links "on business cards or put them up on your website", and the business chat links add a QR code version with a pre-filled first message and a view counter. That counter is the only conversion number Telegram supplies for those links; it counts taps, not orders.
Those are the telegram features for business that Telegram has documented. Everything else sold as a business feature, such as shared team inboxes, assignment rules or sales pipelines, is built by third parties on a connected bot or on the Bot API.
Telegram Business subscription and price
There is no separate Telegram Business subscription. Telegram's announcement says "all Telegram Business features are available for free to Premium subscribers", so the price of Telegram Business is the price of Telegram Premium. The one exception is the connected chatbot: Telegram's API documentation says connected bots "are also available to non-Premium users", and connecting one "does not require Telegram Premium".
Telegram does not publish one global figure for telegram business pricing. The Premium FAQ says the price may include "slight variations to reflect local living standards", that a subscription through @PremiumBot is discounted because it avoids Apple and Google fees, and that the currency of a first @PremiumBot payment follows the country code of the account's phone number. The price an owner sees in the app is the only reliable telegram business price.
Press coverage gives a reference point, not a quote. ZDNet reported at launch in 2024 that Premium, and with it Business, cost $4.99 a month or $35.99 a year; Wise listed SGD 7.48 a month for Singapore in April 2025. Treat both as dated: the telegram business account price can differ by store, country and billing period, and the telegram for business cost for a team is one Premium subscription per account that needs the features.
Is there a telegram business free option? Partly. Channels, groups, bots, username links and the Payments API cost nothing on Telegram's side, and the Premium FAQ promises that features which existed before Premium "remain free to use". A free account can connect a business bot. What a free account cannot do is show opening hours, a location, greeting or away messages, quick replies or chat tags. So telegram for business pricing comes down to one question: does the team need those profile and automation features, or only a bot and a channel?
| Capability | Free account | Premium account |
|---|---|---|
| Channels, groups, username links | Yes | Yes |
| Connected business chatbot | Yes | Yes |
| Hours, location, start page | No | Yes |
| Greeting, away messages, quick replies | No | Yes |
| Business chat links, chat tags | No | Yes |
| File size per upload | 2 GB | 4 GB |
| Sees sponsored messages in channels | Yes | No |
How to create a Telegram business account
To create a Telegram business account, sign up for an ordinary account, subscribe to Premium in the app or through @PremiumBot, then open Settings, Telegram Business and fill in hours, location, start page and messages. Telegram describes the result as turning "your Telegram account into a business account". There is no separate registration, verification step or company document.
So does telegram have business account types the way some messengers do? Not as a separate class. A business telegram account is a personal account with business fields switched on, and the same person can switch them off again. Telegram's privacy policy describes it from the data side: "Telegram Business subscribers can add a fixed location and a list of opening hours to their profile".
-
Register the account on a number you will keep
How to make telegram business account access durable starts here: the account is tied to a phone number, and the Spam FAQ warns that numbers previously used by someone else can carry a limit "for no reason". A company number held by the business avoids losing the account when an employee leaves.
-
Set a public username
The username is what goes on the website, the packaging and the card. People can then open a chat without the number; how that first message reaches the inbox is covered in what happens when a customer writes first.
-
Subscribe to Premium
How to open telegram business account features: Settings, Telegram Premium, or @PremiumBot on the direct Android, Desktop and macOS builds, where Telegram says the price is discounted.
-
Fill in Settings, Telegram Business
Add hours, location, start page, quick replies, greeting and away messages. Exclude contacts from automated messages so friends and staff do not receive them.
-
Connect a bot only if you have one
A chatbot needs a working bot first. Telegram's Bots FAQ says "there are no out-of-the-box ways to create a working bot if you are not a developer".
That is how to set up telegram for business on one account, and the same steps repeat each time you create telegram business account profiles for another brand. Several telegram business accounts, one per brand or region, each need their own number and their own Premium subscription; the risks of running many at once are covered in the guide to running multiple Telegram accounts.
Search terms for a telegram business app, telegram business web and telegram for business app all lead to the same place. There is no separate Telegram Business app to download, as there is with WhatsApp Business; the business settings sit inside the standard Telegram apps, and Telegram's announcement points to Settings, Telegram Business in the official clients. Searches for telegram wa business usually come from owners comparing the two: WhatsApp Business is a separate app from Meta, while Telegram adds business fields to the account you already have.
Two other search terms describe products Telegram does not make. A "telegram business manager" in the sense of Meta's Business Manager does not exist; Telegram has no console for managing several business accounts, and admin rights are set per channel or group. A "telegram business mod" usually means a modified app file that claims to switch on Business without Premium. Such a build signs in with the account and sees every message in it, and Telegram's own route to the chatbot without paying is already free.
Telegram channels and groups for business
A telegram channel for business is a one-way feed: admins post, subscribers read, and Telegram's FAQ says a channel can have "an unlimited number of subscribers". A group is a conversation of up to 200,000 members. Most companies using Telegram for business pair them, a telegram business channel for announcements and a linked group or bot for questions, and keep private chats for orders and support.
How to create telegram channel for business: tap the pencil or new-message icon, choose New Channel, set a name, description and photo, and pick public with a short username or private with an invite link. How to open telegram channel for business accounts that already exist works the same way; a channel is not tied to the business profile and can have several admins. Telegram's channels FAQ lets the owner "invite the first 200 subscribers" from contacts, and growth after that comes from links, search and adverts, set out in the guide to growing a Telegram channel or group.
How to use telegram channel for business without losing readers comes down to cadence and evidence. Posts can be queued with scheduled messages and their documented rules, and Telegram's statistics for larger channels show views and shares per post; the figures and their gaps are covered in the section on reading channel growth figures. Telegram channels for business also show sponsored messages to free users; Telegram's privacy policy says these appear in "public one-to-many channels (with 1,000 subscribers or more)".
Telegram channel for business ideas that rely on Telegram's own features rather than volume: a price-drop feed with a buy button that opens a bot invoice, a weekly product post pinned in a linked group, a support channel that links to the business chat with a pre-filled message, or a members-only channel paid for with a subscription invite link. Broadcasting to subscribers through a channel is one of four routes compared in the guide to broadcast messages on Telegram.
Telegram groups for business fit communities, cohorts and dealer networks. A telegram business group differs from a channel in that every member can post, so moderation is part of the cost; spam bots that target open groups are described in the guide to Telegram spammer tools and how to stop them. A telegram business group link can be public or an invite link with a member limit and an approval step. Lists of telegram business groups for networking, often sold as a telegram online business group or a telegram leads group, are mostly open chats filled with promotional posts.
Two shortcuts sold to fill channels and groups break Telegram's rules. Adding people who did not ask to join is treated like unwanted messaging in the Spam FAQ, and the mechanics are covered in the guide to Telegram members adding and its limits and in the guide to invite member bots. Paying for subscriber counts is the other; the guide to buying Telegram subscribers separates real advertising from fake members. Telegram sales group chats and members-for-sale offers belong to the same market, and panels that sell views and reactions are covered in the guide to Telegram SMM panels.
"Please only contact people if you're sure that they are expecting messages from you. The same applies to adding people to unwanted groups and channels."Telegram Spam FAQ, telegram.org/faq_spam
Telegram bot for business and business mode
A telegram bot for business is either a standalone bot, which customers start themselves, or a connected business bot, which answers private chats on the business account's behalf. Telegram documents both. A standalone bot can reply, take payments and broadcast to users who started it. A connected bot works inside the owner's own chats, and Telegram allows "just one business bot" per account.
Telegram bot business mode is a switch in @BotFather that lets a bot be connected to business accounts; Telegram's bot features page calls the result "Secretary Mode". Once connected, the Bot API gives the bot a business_connection_id and a set of rights. The reply right is narrow: can_reply lets the bot "send and edit messages in the private chats that had incoming messages in the last 24 hours". A telegram business bot therefore cannot reopen a quiet conversation days later.
How to create telegram bot for business: message @BotFather, send /newbot, choose a name and a username ending in "bot", and keep the token it returns. That token is all a developer or a hosted platform needs. A telegram business chatbot that answers with AI is the same bot with a language model behind it; Telegram's announcement names "AI assistants that manage their chats" as an intended use. The build and hosting side is what Telegram bot development and automation covers.
Bot sending limits are published as advice and as caps, and the two differ. The Bots FAQ says to "avoid sending more than one message per second" in a single chat, that in a group bots "are not be able to send more than 20 messages per minute", and that bulk notifications run at "about 30 messages per second" unless paid broadcasts are enabled. What happens past those numbers is explained in the guide to Telegram flood wait and sending limits.
Paid broadcasts raise the bulk figure to "up to 1000 messages per second" at 0.1 Telegram Stars per message, and the Bots FAQ requires "at least 100,000 Stars on its balance and at least 100,000 monthly active users" first. Every one of those recipients must have started the bot. The six supported ways to reach opted-in users at volume are compared in how to send bulk messages on Telegram, and a managed version of that work is the Telegram broadcast messaging service.
CRM for Telegram and lead handling
Telegram has no built-in CRM, and Telegram for business teams that outgrow one phone usually add one. A CRM for Telegram connects through one of two documented routes: a connected business bot that reads and answers the owner's private chats, or a standalone bot whose conversations are stored by the CRM. Either way the CRM sees what the bot sees, and Telegram's privacy policy says bot developers receive the user's public account data and the messages sent to the bot.
A telegram crm integration in practice means a vendor's bot token or business connection plus a webhook. Search phrases such as crm telegram bot, crm bot telegram and telegram crm bot all describe this pattern: the bot logs each chat as a contact, the team replies from the CRM, and the reply goes out through the bot. A telegram crm system cannot widen what Telegram allows the bot to do, so the 24-hour reply window and the rule against bots writing first still apply.
Telegram marketing crm tools add segments and broadcasts on top. Their sends are bot broadcasts to users who started the bot, bound by the same published rates; the pricing and staffing side of that kind of campaign is in planned Telegram marketing work. A telegram sales bot is the same bot with a catalogue and an invoice method attached.
Searches for "wasender bulk messaging ai replies and crm" show how often WhatsApp sender tools are pitched to Telegram users too. The pitch bundles three things: bulk sending, AI replies and a CRM. On Telegram only two of the three have a documented, permitted route, AI replies through a connected bot and a CRM on top of it. Bulk sending from a personal account to people who have not written first is the part Telegram's Spam FAQ calls spam; a provider offering it as a managed bulk messaging service should be able to say which route it uses. Desktop sender tools sorted by what they sign in to are compared in the guide to Telegram message sender tools.
Telegram leads come from people who wrote first: an ad click, a channel post, a QR code, a chat link with a pre-filled message. Lead lists built by copying members out of other people's groups are the opposite, and the guide to Telegram scrapers sets out what that copying does and what Telegram says about it. Messaging those names is where accounts get limited: the restriction is covered in the guide to the limit cold messages run into, and its everyday form in the guide to the mutual-contacts-only restriction.
How to sell on Telegram
To sell on Telegram, a business needs a bot. Telegram's payments page answers "Do I need a bot to accept payments?" with "Yes". Physical goods are paid by card through a third-party provider connected in @BotFather, and Telegram "takes no commission". Digital goods and services are paid in Telegram Stars. A channel or business chat can show the products, but the invoice comes from the bot.
Telegram's payments page says bots can "accept payments from over 200 countries using more than 20 providers" and send invoices "to any chat, including groups and channels". The provider charges its own fee; Telegram's own example is Stripe in the US at "2.9% + 30¢ per successful card charge". Telegram does not hold card details: "Neither Telegram nor the bot developers have access to it."
-
Create the selling bot
How to sell products on telegram starts with @BotFather and
/newbot; the token it returns is what the payment setup and any shop platform will ask for. -
Connect a payment provider
In @BotFather, open the bot's Payments settings, pick a provider and complete its onboarding. Test mode first, then live.
-
Send invoices
The bot sends an invoice into a private chat, a group or a channel, with title, description and price.
-
Confirm within 10 seconds
Telegram's payments page says the bot "must reply using answerPrecheckoutQuery within 10 seconds" or the transaction is cancelled.
-
Deliver after the payment update
Ship only after the successful-payment update arrives, and keep the charge ID; Telegram says it may be needed for a refund.
Selling on telegram for digital goods differs in three ways. Payment is in Stars, the price a user pays for Stars "may vary from user to user due to VAT and other applicable fees", and refunds go through the refundStarPayment method. The Stars page also says the seller "must provide customer support in a timely fashion". How to sell in telegram without writing code means a hosted shop platform that runs the bot from its token; the payment still follows the rules above.
Telegram sales figures are not something Telegram reports to merchants beyond the bot's own payment updates. Telegram online business models that work within those rules tend to be small catalogues, digital products, bookings and paid channels. How to start telegram business sales from zero is mostly an audience question: telegram business ideas that depend on messaging people who never asked fail for the reasons in the previous section. Paid reach through Telegram's advertising platform is the documented alternative, and the published Telegram Ads cost figures show what it takes to buy.
Telegram Business Nearby: what exists
Telegram Business Nearby was announced and, as of 15 October 2026, not documented as launched. Pavel Durov's channel post of September 2024 said People Nearby had been removed because it "was used by less than 0.1% of Telegram users, but had issues with bots and scammers", and that Telegram "will be launching 'Businesses Nearby'", showing "legitimate, verified businesses" with product catalogues and payments.
We found no Telegram blog post, FAQ entry or API page describing a released telegram business nearby feature on the pages read for this guide. The API documents a business location field and nothing that lists businesses by distance. So the honest answer to how to use telegram business nearby, or telegram business nearby how to use, is that Telegram has published no instructions because there is no documented feature to use.
What a business can do today is add a location under Settings, Telegram Business, which shows a map pin on its profile to people who already found it. Searches such as telegram find business nearby and telegram business near me return local channels and groups, not a Telegram directory. If Businesses Nearby ships, Telegram's announcement suggests verification will be the entry requirement; Telegram has published no criteria for it.
Telegram's business model and your data
The Telegram app business model rests on paid subscriptions and advertising, not on selling user data. Telegram's FAQ lists Sponsored Messages, launched in 2021, and Premium, launched in 2022, as its revenue streams. The same FAQ answers whether Telegram will "sell my data" with "No", and its GDPR answer reads: "We don't use your data for ad targeting, we don't sell it to others".
Does telegram sell your data, then? Telegram's own documents say no, and they describe narrower sharing instead. The privacy policy says data used to serve ads "cannot be disclosed to any third parties – advertisers included", that sponsored messages appear in public channels "with 1,000 subscribers or more", and that Premium users do not see ads. Data may be shared with Telegram's group companies, which the policy names.
The part of "does telegram sell data" that matters most to a business is the bot. Telegram's privacy policy lists "opening a chat with a Telegram Business account controlled by a chatbot" as one of the ways a bot's developer receives a user's data. A business that connects a third-party CRM bot is passing customer chats to that third party, under that third party's terms.
The telegram business model for channel owners and bot developers is documented too. ads.telegram.org says "50% of the revenue from Telegram Ads goes to the owners of channels where they are displayed". The telegram bot business model runs on Stars: digital sales, paid broadcasts at 0.1 Stars per message, and Stars that can be spent on Telegram Ads. For buying reach on Telegram's ad platform through a third party, the guide to Telegram ads agencies lists what is actually being bought.
How to contact Telegram customer service
Telegram's FAQ says to contact Telegram Support in the app, under Settings, Ask a Question, and adds "we rely on volunteers for support". Telegram for business accounts get no separate desk. For a lost login there is a web form at telegram.org/support asking for full legal name, email and phone number, and @PremiumBot handles Premium purchases made through it.
Customer service for telegram is therefore volunteer-run, slow by design and not a channel for account disputes. How to contact telegram customer service about a limited account is a different route again: the Spam FAQ names @SpamBot as the contact and says early release from a limit "is impossible". No phone number is published for Telegram, and Telegram does not charge for support; anyone selling "contact telegram customer service" access, or claiming to remove accounts through it, is selling something Telegram has not documented. Such offers are dissected in the guide to Telegram mass report bots.
Telegram ads customer service follows the same pattern. The ads.telegram.org support page read for this guide is a product overview without a contact form, and the platform's rules sit in its published guidelines and terms. A business that needs help with its own customers should not route them to Telegram at all: the greeting message, away message and a support bot are the business's own customer service on Telegram. Sendhaus, an independent Telegram messaging and automation provider, has no affiliation with Telegram and cannot contact Telegram on anyone's behalf.
Slack vs Telegram for business
Slack vs Telegram for business is mostly a question of who is on the other side. Slack is built for a workspace of colleagues, with admin-controlled channels and app integrations; Telegram is built for reaching the public through usernames, channels and bots. Many teams use both: Slack inside, Telegram for customers. Telegram has no workspace concept and no company-wide admin console.
| Question | Telegram | Slack |
|---|---|---|
| Main audience | Customers and the public | Colleagues in one workspace |
| Free tier history | Cloud chats kept, no published cap | 90 days of message history on the free plan, per Slack's pricing page |
| Broadcast to many | Channels with unlimited subscribers | Channels limited to workspace members and guests |
| Central admin | Per channel or group only | Workspace owners and admins |
| Payments in chat | Bot Payments API, Stars | None built in |
Using telegram for business internally works for small teams, and Telegram's FAQ names "small teams" as an intended audience. The gap shows when staff leave: each Telegram account belongs to a person and a phone number, not to the company, so a business should keep ownership of its channels and bots on an account it controls.
What Telegram does not publish
Telegram publishes the business features, the bot limits and the payment rules. It does not publish several numbers that vendors quote freely. Saying so is more useful than repeating a figure nobody can source, and each gap below was checked against the pages listed under Sources on 15 October 2026.
- A single global price for Premium or Telegram Business. The Premium FAQ says prices vary by country and store.
- The number of quick replies, greeting resend periods or chat links an account may create; the API refers to server-set limits.
- A count of business accounts, or any figure for how many companies use Telegram.
- A launch date or verification criteria for Businesses Nearby.
- Any safe daily number of messages to people who have not written first. The Spam FAQ judges by whether receivers "find it unwelcome", not by count.
- A support response time, or a paid support tier for business accounts.
A vendor page that quotes any of these as Telegram's figure is quoting itself.
When Telegram for business is the wrong tool
Telegram for business is the wrong tool when customers are not on Telegram, when the plan depends on messaging people first, or when the business sells something Telegram's terms or local law restrict. A business that needs outbound reach to people who never contacted it should use channels where consent can be collected and recorded, such as email or SMS under the relevant law.
Consent law sits above Telegram's rules. Unsolicited commercial messages are regulated in many markets regardless of what an app allows, and Telegram's terms already prohibit using the service "to send spam or scam users". Regulated sectors carry their own rules too: tokens and trading signals are one example, set out in the guide to crypto Telegram groups and what Telegram documents.
Telegram also gives a business little control over the relationship. The account belongs to a phone number, support is volunteer-run, and a limited account has no published appeal timetable. A business that cannot afford a week without its main sales chat should keep a second contact route outside Telegram. Where Telegram does fit, the work that sits on top of it is listed under Sendhaus's Telegram services, and audience growth by Telegram's own rules is what the Telegram marketing and channel growth service does.
Frequently asked questions
Is Telegram Business free?
Not entirely. Telegram says all Telegram Business features are available for free to Premium subscribers, so hours, location, greeting and away messages, quick replies and chat links come with a paid Premium subscription. A connected business chatbot is the exception: Telegram's API documentation says connecting a business bot does not require Telegram Premium. Channels, groups and bots stay free.
Does Telegram have a business account?
Not as a separate account type. Any Telegram account becomes a business account when Telegram Business features are switched on under Settings, Telegram Business, which needs Premium. There is no company registration, document check or separate Telegram Business app. The account still belongs to one phone number, so a business should register it on a number the company controls.
Does Telegram sell your data?
Telegram's FAQ says it does not use data for ad targeting and does not sell it to others, and its privacy policy says data used to serve ads cannot be disclosed to advertisers. The exception a business should know is bots: when a customer opens a chat with a business account run by a chatbot, the bot's developer receives that customer's data.
How do I contact Telegram customer service?
Inside the app, go to Settings, Ask a Question. Telegram's FAQ says support relies on volunteers. For a lost login there is a web form at telegram.org/support, and a limited account is handled by @SpamBot, which the Spam FAQ names as the contact. Telegram publishes no phone number, no response time and no paid support tier for business accounts.
Can a Telegram business bot message customers first?
No. Telegram's developer introduction says bots can't start conversations with users. A connected business bot can only reply in private chats that had incoming messages in the last 24 hours, according to the Bot API. Messages to people who never wrote to the business come from a personal account, and Telegram's Spam FAQ treats unwelcome messages as spam.
Is Telegram Businesses Nearby available?
Telegram announced Businesses Nearby in September 2024, when People Nearby was removed, and said it would show legitimate, verified businesses with catalogues and payments. On 15 October 2026 no Telegram blog post, FAQ entry or API page described it as launched. A business can add a location to its profile, which shows a map pin to people who already found it.
